Kate Williams and Mark Tavender
UNWIN Safety Systems has recruited two new people to support the company’s international growth.
Kate Williams, 26, of Yeovil, has joined the wheelchair safety systems manufacturer as a supply chain assistant, and Mark Tavender, 45, of Shepton Beauchamp near Ilminster, is the new despatch supervisor.
Both are keen to maintain Unwin Safety Systems’ reputation as the world market leader for safety, as well as getting to grips with supply chain challenges.
Kate previously worked in sales for GKN Aerospace in Yeovil. She said: ‘Here, I have joined a small yet innovative team. It is good to be working for a family firm, where you are treated like a person, not just a number.’
Mark used to work in Sherborne for Charles Endirect Ltd, the street-lighting supplier and manufacturer now moved to Wincanton, Somerset, and he has managed up to 60 people at the ‘goods-in’ department of Screwfix in Yeovil. His wife Caroline also works in Unwin’s sales department.
Mark said: ‘An elderly relative of mine sometimes uses a wheelchair. Helping her to get out and about really helps give me an insight into this specialist field, as 95% of our business is linked to wheelchair users and Unwin Safety Systems care about giving people freedom and making their lives better.’
UNWIN Safety Systems will be mixing and matching at APSE Aviemore 2012, Scotland’s largest public sector Fleet, Waste and Grounds Services Exhibition.
