Solar Power - New Unwin Range Transforms WAV Market

Solar Panel

Solar is Unwin's brilliant new system for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles.

It's stylish. Modern. Subtle. Safe. And totally flexible.

Based on solid industry research, and drawing on Unwin's unrivalled experience and facilities, Solar is exactly what WAV convertors and their customers want.

We ask people what they want Solar to do - and a kit is then designed to that exact brief.

'We can create a kit to the absolutely specific geometry you are using inside a car,' our sales and marketing director Gerry O'Connor told WAV convertors at Solar's launch.

'It's designed in-house by our engineering team to suit what you want it to do and to make it work for you and your clients.'

As we understand how important European type approval is these days, we can also arrange dynamic testing of vehicles and Solar kits in our new dynamic testing laboratory.

Solar is a range of mostly black and silver components. Parts blend in with, and enhance, car interiors in subtle and contemporary ways. They better protect people and property. They have unique and interesting features.

Solar is a fresh approach to the WAV market.

EMG AGM 'A Great Success'

Ninety people from 12 countries and 35 different companies enjoyed the annual get-together of the European Mobility Group, which Unwin hosted in Somerset and Bristol.

Guests toured our HQ in Martock, and visited our new Dynamic Testing Laboratory. Inside the lab we saw a crash test - outside we had the big group photograph taken that you can see on the right.

We launched Solar at Haynes International Motor Museum and were delighted to get such an enthusiastic response.

Thank you to all the delegates who have sent us such kind thank you messages, saying the three days were 'a great success'. Here's just a few extracts from the many emails we have had.

I would like to thank the whole Unwin staff for the kind hospitality and really making me feel welcome during my stay at the EMG Bristol and the visit to your company. It was impressive seeing the factory and the new testing facility and you all did a very good job of hosting the EMG - it was done very professionally.
Claus Dahl Pedersen Dahl Engineering, Denmark

We want to congratulate with you for the excellent organisation of the last EMG meeting. As Unwin's dealer we are proud to be part of your family. Please extend our thanking and congratulations to all your staff PS. Solar... what to say... just Unwin!

We look forward to seeing people at next year's AGM in Bologna.

New Markets Made Coach and Bus Lively

New Markets Made Coach and Bus Lively

While we were busy with the EMG meeting, Unwin sales managers Andy Palmer and Darren Brooke were also very busy at Coach and Bus Live in Birmingham.

HAL and EasiSit attracted coach operators and manufacturers. Some entirely new customers involved with tourism are interested in other Unwin products as well.

Andy, who's our Southern Area sales manager, said: 'It was a very busy show for us, supporting customers that had vehicles on stand and opening up new markets.

'People were very keen to draw on our knowledge and experience in helping them to understand industry trends and what they've got to do.

'For example, coach operators and coach manufacturers are having to think about making more space available for wheelchair users.

'So there was a lot of interest in our hand actuated lockable HAL because it's so quick and easy to use. There was also a lot of interest in EasiSit, our new combined seat and wheelchair restraint.

'We picked up a lot of good leads, including some very new areas for Unwin indeed, such as holiday theme parks and other tourist attractions.

'Because of new facilities like our testing laboratory, and the strength of our engineering team, and the range of our products, we can do more these days than we ever have before.'

Impressed With Bestvest

The UK's largest disability lifestyle magazine, Able Magazine, has awarded Bestvest 4 stars.

The safety garment was recently picked out for praise by Able Magazine's assistant editor Tom Jamison.

He said: 'Bestvest was a product that I really liked. I hope people will see it's got four stars and think - Well, that's worth buying'.

Bestvest is designed to protect people and save lives by improving the fit of seat-belts. Worn like a bodywarmer, Bestvest helps to position the diagonal part of a 3-point seat belt.
